The Balsamand Lake is one of the popular tourist spots of the majestic city, Jodhpur. It is also a favorite picnic spot for the locals. Built in 1159 AD, this is an artificial lake. It is just 7 kms away from the city. This lake attracts large number of tourists every year. It is fifty meters wide, one kilometer long and fifteen meters deep. Right beside the lake stands the Balsammand Palace. It is an artistic and beautiful eight-pillared palace with amazing entrance gates. In the year 1936, Maharaja Sur Singh designed the palace as a summer pavilion.

The lake is garlanded by lush green gardens. Pools covered with lilies, rose beds, the tall trees, an artificial cascade and groves of different varieties of fruits are some of the scenes that you can cherish after visiting this lake. Peacocks, jackals, blue bulls and different types of bats also add beauty and charm to the lake and its surrounding.

Kaylana Lake Jodhpur

Kaylana Lake is another famous attraction for the tourist visiting Jodhpur. It is just 8 kms away from the city. In the year 1872, Pratap Singh, got the lake constructed. This artificial lakes stretches over an area of 84 square kms. The lake lies on a place that used to be an area with palaces of two rulers of Jodhpur. Those royal structures were destroyed in order to construct this lake. There is a Dak Bunglow of PHED, irrigation department close to the lake. Boating in he lake is allowed.

It is considered as an ideal picnic spot for most of the tourists. Watching sunset in this lake is amazing. You can feel close to nature. The chirping of different varieties of birds add melody to the surrounding. It is a must visit for the travelers coming to this city.

Sardar Samand Lake Jodhpur

Sardar Samand Lake is close to the Jodhpur city. The scenic view of this lake is beautiful and breathtaking. It is the perfect place to refresh your mind. It is an abode for varieties of migratory birds. If you are a lover of nature and solitude, it is the best place. On your way to this lake you can spot freely roaming wild animals like Chinkara, Neelgai, Black Buck and many more.

The lake offers virtual treat to the photographers and the nature lovers. Close to it stands the summer palace of Maharaja Umaid singh. It was used as a hunting lodge by the royal family of Jodhpur. Now, it is converted into Sradar Samand Lake Resort.
